Julie is the third generation to call Ventura her home, and even though she has traveled throughout the world, still considers Ventura the absolute best place to live and raise her children which are now grown.
She is a graduate of Sonoma State University, with a degree in Fine Arts with a color and design emphasis.
For 20 years she worked for Patagonia as Print and Color Director, here she was able to enjoy her interest in color and design.

She has also had several workshops with Brenda Swenson, Andy Evansen, Paul Jackson, Joseph Stoddard, Lian Zhen

More recently Tom Henderson, Santa Barbara has been her mentor and has worked with him for the last 10 years.

Julie has a studio in Ventura she calls Beach House Studio where she teaches Watercolor classes Julie Merrill and continues to do her own painting.
