John Alden Halford

Alden has lived in the Upper Ojai Valley of Ventura County for over 30 years. All of his work is inspired by his experiences living and working in the Great American West as well as his deep appreciation and respect for our Native American Culture. Alden started his first cattle business at the age of eight on the family farm in Oklahoma and has since worked with animals on farms and ranches from the plains of Oklahoma to the mountains of Northern California, finally settling in Upper Ojai.

His works are one-of-a-kind originals–there are no copies or reproductions. Wall art is paint and ink on paper, all framed by Alden Arts using repurposed, imperfect mats and frames. Stone carvings are created from soapstone harvested in the mountains of Calaveras County, California.
